SpinCounts.com was built for the music industry’s reporting side — giving artists, labels, promoters, DJs, and radio professionals a cleaner way to view song performance, track spins, and generate professional airplay reports.

The goal was not to build a simple WordPress website. The goal was to create a full reporting platform that could read real airplay data, organize it by artist and track, generate reports for paying members, and present that information in a way that feels polished, fast, and easy to use.

978host helped shape SpinCounts.com into a custom WordPress-based music reporting system with membership controls, report limits, database-driven analytics, and a foundation that can continue growing into a full Mediabase-style reporting service.

Notable engineering challenges solved

Working with an existing database

SpinCounts already had an active database powering real reporting workflows. Instead of forcing a rebuild or changing the schema, the system was designed to read from the existing structure and extend functionality around it. This helped protect the current data while allowing the platform to evolve.

Membership limits tied to real usage

The platform needed more than simple “members-only” access. Each membership level needed its own reporting limit, and the system needed to track how many reports a user had already generated. This created a more professional SaaS-style experience inside WordPress.

Making complex music data easy to use

Airplay data can be messy. Artist names, track names, ISRC codes, weekly movement, and spin totals all need to be handled carefully. The reporting interface was built to simplify this for the end user while keeping the data logic strong behind the scenes.

Building for future growth

The platform was built with expansion in mind. Future features can include automated PDF reports, label dashboards, promoter accounts, email delivery, chart rankings, API access, and AI-powered music insights without needing to restart the entire project.

Outcomes

  • Custom WordPress-based airplay reporting system built around SpinCounts’ existing data
  • Membership-controlled report access with usage limits
  • Cleaner reporting workflow for artists, labels, promoters, and music professionals
  • Database-driven reports without disrupting the current system
  • Strong foundation for future SaaS-style music analytics features
  • Built to scale into a more advanced music industry reporting platform
